Hi, we’re Jessica and Robin! We design hand-illustrated wedding stationery and love to work with couples who want invitations that truly reflect both of your personalities.

We have experience in this because we’re not only business partners- we’re married! 

When we were planning our wedding, we went to great lengths to decide, at each step of the way, what we did and didn't want. When it came to our invitations and other stationery, we knew right away that we didn't want the typical bridal look- both of us got married that day, so we thought it should reflect the taste and aesthetic of both of us. Problem was, we couldn’t find something that felt exactly like us.

So, as RISD graduates with illustration in our bones (yeah, we met in art school- swoon), we decided to design our own invitations. We used a lot of things that we found personal resonance with in the patterning and design, things that represented where we both came from, and themes and images that reflected the location of our wedding.

The invites were a big hit! Everyone loved them, and soon our engaged friends were asking us to design their invites, too. We had so much fun doing it that we decided to launch an entire business around designing custom and semi-custom wedding stationery suites, and There Will Be Cake was born! 

How we work with you

We love working with couples to help their personalities shine through their wedding stationery. After all, the invitations are the first things people see, so they should reflect both who you are, and how the day is going to go. For us, getting to be a part of that initial impression people get of your wedding, and helping couples craft that to be perfect, is a really great feeling!

We know how stressful wedding planning can be- we did it in the middle of also buying a house and moving...it was an insane thing to do. The list of things we were worried about started getting really long... band, food, invites, seating, rentals, venue, drinks, flowers, etc etc etc. We were fortunate that we found many good vendors and a venue right off the bat, and they helped put us at ease by taking things off our plate. We love to do the same thing for people, now, letting them know that we have things under control so they can put a little check mark in the box next to “invitations”, and feel confident that they will love them!
